G2 Esports became the first team to claim a ticket to the 2022 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) after finishing first place at the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) 2022 Summer Split.
Actually, G2 Esports has already confirmed this after its victory over Misfits Gaming on Sunday (15/8/22). But, finishing first place seals the deal more tightly. G2 Esports have accumulated some Championship Points this season after their first-place finish in the LEC 2022 Spring Playoffs.
Now, they have also emerged as the first seed at the 2022 Summer Playoffs. This pushes G2 Esports one step closer to secure their second LEC title of the year. Following behind them, thera are MAD Lions (2nd Place), Rogue (3rd Place), and Misfits Gaming (4th Place).
As the first seed at the upcoming Playoffs, they are allowed to choose their first opponent and they picked Misfits Gaming. Will G2 Esports once again prevail over Misfits Gaming? As of this writing, there’s still no information about the start date for the Playoff Stage.
The 2022 LoL World Championship is just over a month away and will return to North America this year. This will be the first Worlds event where fans will be allowed to attend in all stages of the tournament.
In 2020, a limited number of fans were also allowed, but only for the Grand Finals between Korea’s DAMWON Gaming and China’s Suning. After that, all LoL in-person events were restricted.
