Keep Yourself Safe: Protect Yourself from Online Fraud!

Your safety has, and always will be our top concern here at UniPin. We would like to raise awareness once more so that you keep yourself safe whenever you’re online or making online purchases. Here are some easy steps you can practice yourself to prevent getting scammed!

  1. Keep all passwords and sensitive information PRIVATE! Never share your password, OTP, or login details to anyone else, and ensure that only you know them!
  2. Do not click any suspicious links! Whether it’s through SMS, email or instant messaging, do not click into any website links and fill in your details, as it may be a fake website! This applies to calls too!
  3. Activate 2-Factor Authentication. Ensure that all your accounts and online purchasing are linked through an additional verification process, to better protect your account!

Additionally, here are some tips to help you identify any potential scams or fraud:

  1. Getting requests to make payments outside of the verified platform. If you are purchasing on websites such as UniPin, make sure that you make payments on the website itself or on verified payment platforms. UniPin will not request for you to make payments outside of the platform in any circumstance.
  2. Always check the link of the website you are on. Fraudulent websites will have the web address misspelt or completely different. Make sure that the website address is spelt out correctly, and that it is a secure website. Check that the website address begins with https:// and there is a lock symbol right beside the website address.
  3. Receiving TAC/password/OTP requests for no reason. Scammers may forcefully send an SMS or call to your device all of a sudden. Ignore any calls or request from others if they request for the information, and as a best practice, reset and change the password for the respective account.

As a reminder from UniPin, always think rationally before you proceed with any decisions, such as logins, online purchasing, or clicking links. Make sure that it is 100% safe before you do anything. Better safe than sorry!
