TI11 Prize Pool Stuck at $12 Million

Valve has released the 2022 Battle Pass to welcome The International 11 (TI11). Unfortunately the prize pool is stuck at 12 million dollars. This is of course due to the unattractive content of the Battle Pass and far from the expectations of Dota 2 fans. In fact, they have been waiting for almost a year.

The International itself is one of the most prestigious esports tournaments in the world. It was also known for the sum of its total prize pool which is usually the biggest when compared to other esports tournaments.

Now that we know, the TI11 didn’t meet a lot of people's expectations, problems arose. Last year, the prize pool broke through 40 million dollars. This is, of course, much different from this year, which was only able to reach 12 million dollars.

In addition, The International 11 will be held in 2 weeks. This is the first time that The International's prize pool has dropped significantly, and it's a far cry from the previous series.

When Valve released the newest Battle Pass, the TI11 prize pool quickly rose as 25% of all transactions went into it. In just 24 hours, Dota 2's biggest tournament collected over $7 million, which led some to think that the show prize pool would break the series' previous record. However, it looks like that's not going to happen.

Although some people consider the 2022 Battle Pass to be the best they've seen so far, others find it not that exciting. This can be seen from the very few people who buy it. There are several reasons why that’s the case, and the main reason why is Valve's decision to split it into two parts.

So far, we already know the teams that will be participating in the TI11 main tournament. The Last Chance Qualifiers will soon start and find the last two teams who're going to take part in the main competition.

TI11 will take place on October 15, 2022 in Singapore. What should Valve do to boost the current problem regarding the prize pool?
